The workplace is changing fast!

New technologies, social expectations, and a constantly evolving global marketplace have changed how we engage with work. These changes have been growing for decades, but there is nothing like a global pandemic to accelerate an already rapid pace.

As we’ve tried to adapt to this brave new world, one thing has become clear: skills have never been more important.

With the lifespan of skills shortening, the skills of yesterday will be inadequate for tomorrow. Companies and employees alike will be forced to reimagine how talent is managed and developed to face future challenges. A skills revolution is coming!

Not your parents’ training programs

Employees can breathe a sigh of relief. The days of sitting through hours of generic, outdated, and often irrelevant training programs are over.

The employee of the future will undergo tailored training based on his/her individual skill sets (skills and proficiencies). Employees will not only be empowered to chart their careers, they will be effectively trained and prepared for current and future jobs.

Show me your skills!

Talent management decisions are often made with subjective factors in mind. Capable employees are overlooked for others who are more visible or have the right credentials on paper. As the lifespan of skills becomes shorter, even academic degrees become less reliable indicators of a person’s skill set. In a world where upskilling and reskilling will be a constant, employees will be evaluated based on their skills, not on a degree attained years ago.

Objective Reviews

Employee performance reviews are commonly subjective and anecdotal. The performance reviews of the future, in addition to discussing performance, will be objective and focus on your skills development. With skills at the center of the conversation, managers will have supportive, fact-based conversations that steer the employee towards tangible improvement.

The sky’s the limit

Many employees lack knowledge of their personal potential. This results in unproductive and unmotivated employees. The organization of the future will know the skills and proficiencies of their workforce, creating a transparent environment where every employee is aware of their skills, how to improve them, and how to use them to develop their career.

New Job, Same Company

External recruitment is costly and time consuming. Resources and time are spent evaluating outside candidates while the best candidates may already be employees. Companies that understand the skills of their employees will use this knowledge to prepare and redeploy talent. Jobs will be filled faster and less money will be spent on external recruiters.

The workforce of the future will be built on skills. Skill centric companies will have a competitive advantage over those who cling to outdated approaches to managing talent. Employees of skill-centric enterprises will be empowered and more productive than their counterparts in other organizations.

Skills are the future. What is your company waiting for?
